An Article in National Geographic March 2009 issue points out the need for more information on the important “Jaguar Corridor” through the mountains of Costa Rica. Alan Rabinowitz, a jaguar expert says the migration corridors in Costa Rica are just as important as the breeding areas. “If we write off these in-between areas, we write off our best chance to keep jaguars from going extinct.”

The Florida International Teaching Zoo (FITZ), and Project Green Jungle were already planning a three day excursion in the jungle surrounding the corridor, so it only seemed like a natural step to try to take advantage of our location and see if we could document some cats.

FITZ has been breeding Jaguars for over a decade in captivity with the goal of spreading the word about these Near Threatened Cats, and bringing the public close enough to understand the beauty, and importance of an animal like this. The bloodline FITZ has represented is indeed beautiful. They have historically been one of the very few zoos in the United States that successfully produced the black form of Jaguar.

With the many years of history with captive cats, we are excited take help document wild jaguars. An increased awareness of the jaguar’s migratory path is needed, and the first step is determining where they are. In order to raise money for an infrared camera, FITZ and Green Jungle are doing something that reflects the times. We have set up a Micro-Donation drive. Project Green Jungle

Deploy* is a free, open source, web application which allows user to quickly deploy a web project framework with valid XHTML and CSS in only a matter of seconds.

With a simple form Deploy* allows you to generate a web project framework which can include, but not limited to, CSS Resets, JavaScript libraries*, CSS Templates*, PHP includes*, and even throw in a couple of jQuery plugins and extra directories that are used frequently in web development. Deploy* very simply takes the most basic tidious tasks out of web development and lets you get started almost instantly. Even more so with Deploy*’s bookmark feature.

Deploy* allows you bookmark your deployed project and then go back to it and have a fresh new project generated on the spot and with only a single click. Download the bookmark on your machine and put it on your desktop and have your project ready to be generated right from your desktop. As an added bonus to Mac users, they can use Fluid.app and put it in the their menu bar and have a download ready without even opening their web browser.

*As of writing this the current version of Deploy* (1.3.2) doesn’t have these features out for the public at the moment. Oscar says a public beta will be released probably within this week!
