The 1010 Project provides income generating grants to indigenous development partners in Kenya and raises awareness in the United States on behalf of the global poor.

Through our partner organizations, we are actively supporting:

• 4,000 young students with a meal and an education
• 1,400 orphaned children with a loving and caring home environment
• 102 young girls at risk because of their involvement in the commercial sex trade are given a chance to earn income in a dignified and healthy way
• 500 small businesses with critical financial services so that they can continue and expand their life’s work
• 425 individuals living with HIV/AIDS by providing home based care and assistance along with vocational training

A new website launching end of March 2009, offers visitors the opportunity to get information on how to tacke that kitchen makeover. Using video tutorials and written word this website is sure to be a hit with DIY enthusiasts along with those who wish to save themselves money. Materials for your project can also be purchased on line and with customer reviews you can read about other peoples experiences. Also promoting cookware, bakeware, utensils. It will also carry a list of accredited tradesmen that people can call for quotations for different stages of their project. All tradesmen are self-employed but have been checked out by Kitchenfitters.ie and accredited with an ID card. All in all plenty of information and plenty of products.

HYPick is a site whose goal is to allow you to Hype a Topic in front of “an entirely new audience discussing your topic”.

You can add a new topic about anything you want.  Currently, there are already topics about Obama, Cat in a Bong, The Formula That Killed Wall Street, and A Free Link and Exposure On Your Site.

This site would be a great way to share news, ideas, and fun things you have found online and a great way to give attention to lesser known things online.

You can also use their icon on your site to allow your site visitors to post directly to HYPick from your site.  I will be adding this icon to my site so that everyone can have a chance to post to HYPick about new projects featured here.

The site design of HYPick is beautiful, clean, and easy to use.  I love what they have done with phpBB.  I never thought that a phpBB site would look so nice and having used, installed, and customized phpBB sites I know how much work went into making that software suite look so nice!

HYPick has a very intuitive and clean UI that just about anyone can understand without having to even look at their FAQ.

What is Twearth Day?

The name is derived from the combination of TWitter and Earth Day.

Twearth day is Project Green Jungle’s Earth Day Event.
Twitter.com is a website that allows it’s users to update “followers” with information in a real time basis. Project Green jungle is utilizing this technology to update this website in real time from the Jungles of Costa Rica for Earth Day. We will be updating this site with water quality tests conducted on the Sixaola River, as well as during a species account and biodiversity survey of Hitoy Cerere Biological Reserve. In fact, we wil be updating this site from Costa Rica for six days!

From your classroom, or from your home, you can take part in a whole week worth of events on this site. Through these events, we encourage you to develop and use the information for your science curriculum or for a home learning experience.

Twearth Day 2009 will take place in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is an amazingly unique country which houses an unbelievable amount of wildlife and natural resources.

An Article in National Geographic March 2009 issue points out the need for more information on the important “Jaguar Corridor” through the mountains of Costa Rica. Alan Rabinowitz, a jaguar expert says the migration corridors in Costa Rica are just as important as the breeding areas. “If we write off these in-between areas, we write off our best chance to keep jaguars from going extinct.”

The Florida International Teaching Zoo (FITZ), and Project Green Jungle were already planning a three day excursion in the jungle surrounding the corridor, so it only seemed like a natural step to try to take advantage of our location and see if we could document some cats.

FITZ has been breeding Jaguars for over a decade in captivity with the goal of spreading the word about these Near Threatened Cats, and bringing the public close enough to understand the beauty, and importance of an animal like this. The bloodline FITZ has represented is indeed beautiful. They have historically been one of the very few zoos in the United States that successfully produced the black form of Jaguar.

With the many years of history with captive cats, we are excited take help document wild jaguars. An increased awareness of the jaguar’s migratory path is needed, and the first step is determining where they are. In order to raise money for an infrared camera, FITZ and Green Jungle are doing something that reflects the times. We have set up a Micro-Donation drive. Project Green Jungle

Deploy* is a free, open source, web application which allows user to quickly deploy a web project framework with valid XHTML and CSS in only a matter of seconds.

With a simple form Deploy* allows you to generate a web project framework which can include, but not limited to, CSS Resets, JavaScript libraries*, CSS Templates*, PHP includes*, and even throw in a couple of jQuery plugins and extra directories that are used frequently in web development. Deploy* very simply takes the most basic tidious tasks out of web development and lets you get started almost instantly. Even more so with Deploy*’s bookmark feature.

Deploy* allows you bookmark your deployed project and then go back to it and have a fresh new project generated on the spot and with only a single click. Download the bookmark on your machine and put it on your desktop and have your project ready to be generated right from your desktop. As an added bonus to Mac users, they can use Fluid.app and put it in the their menu bar and have a download ready without even opening their web browser.

*As of writing this the current version of Deploy* (1.3.2) doesn’t have these features out for the public at the moment. Hi there!

Well, I figure it’s high time I get started promoting my site better. First off, I’d like to take a moment and thank the folks here at Launch Your Project for giving people like me a platform on which I can let others know about my project. Outstanding job and I appreciate it.

Now, onto my pitch…

Deviant Advice is built on the idea that people don’t want “advice” per se, they just want someone to tell them to go ahead and go through with whatever insane plan that they are concocting in their heads. So that’s what we decided to do. Oh sure, we could tell you why hooking up with that hottie in the Accounting department is a bad idea, but you already know that. You just want someone to tell you how to hit it like the fist of an angry god. That’s what we do around here.

Of course, it’s not just advice we dispense. We’re committed to building a you that’s better than before. So we also take time to publish informative “how-to” guides that tell you how to do all the crazy things you’ve always wanted to do. We’ll tell you how to be the bad-ass that you’ve always wished you could be.
