Through our partner organizations, we are actively supporting:

4,000 young students with a meal and an education

1,400 orphaned children with a loving and caring home environment

102 young girls at risk because of their involvement in the commercial sex trade are given a chance to earn income in a dignified and healthy way

500 small businesses with critical financial services so that they can continue and expand their life’s work

425 individuals living with HIV/AIDS by providing home based care and assistance along with vocational training

We’re launching a fundraising campaign!

Invest $10 per month and make a declaration that you have joined the story to break the cycle of poverty.

What exactly can $10 per month do for our friends and partners in Kenya?
$10 provides three hens and a half sack of fresh maize corn for a member of LOMORO
$10 will buy one carton of 100 tree seedlings for the orphanage at Siritanyi
$10 purchases 10 kilograms of cooking oil for 10 members of Tumaini Pamoja

The 14th Annual Susan G. Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure® will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 in historic downtown Las Vegas. This event, held yearly on the first Saturday in May, is a true community event, bringing over 18,000 registered participants in 2008. With an estimated crowd size of 25,000, the spirit of breast cancer survivorship and co-survivorship was evident everywhere you turned. Every thirteen minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. Every thirteen minutes, a woman in the United States dies of breast cancer. Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been committed to changing these two statistics for over twenty-five years. Locally, the Southern Nevada Affiliate has been working for the past thirteen years to raise funds as well as spread awareness and education throughout our community by collaborating with programs which provide screening, treatment and support to those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

We welcome you to join us this year as we celebrate survivors, remember those we have lost too soon, and truly take a step towards a world without breast cancer.

For more information, please log onto www.komensouthernnevada.org or call 702.822.2324.
