FAQ
How much does it cost me to post about my project?
Since there really is no free lunch the cost to you is the time you take to write about your project. I guess, if you publish a pre-written press release then it will be less time to post and closer to free!
Why are you doing this?
I wanted a place where I could tell people about my own projects and my client’s projects as well as get a quality link into their site. This helps the sites get into the search engines faster and get more people looking at information about their project.
What do I write about?
Your audience on Launch Your Project are people who are interested in seeing what’s out there, what’s new, and what people are working on. So, you want your project description to be informative and descriptive about yourself or your company. This will attract interest and get you more attention.
Pictures help! If you have a screen shot or logo, add it into the description.
Will Launch Your Project Edit My Project Article?
There are only a few circumstances where I will edit your project:
- If you have a link that isn’t linked to anything
- If you are using profanity
- If you have formatted your post all crazy, such that it wouldn’t look right on the site
I reserve the right to edit and format a project article in any way that I see fit. I don’t have a ton of time, and I will not change your content. Most of the edits that I make are cosmetic. If I feel that I would need to edit your content, I probably will just not approve the project (see below).
Will Launch Your Project Reject My Project?
The only times I can think of right now where I would reject a project article are:
- If your project is harmful to anyone or promotes harm to anyone (things like abuse, porn, etc)
- If I feel that having your project on the site would cause people to turn away because it is offensive or rude.
Just remember, I am trying to provide a work and family safe environment. I reserve the right to reject any project for any reason in order to create a website and a tool that is more likely to be useful to the majority of people. Contact me if you have any questions about this policy.
What else can I do to promote my project?
- Make a twitter account and update it frequently with information about your project. Befriend like-minded people and use them to find new twitterers.
- Submit interesting posts, pages, or your whole site to social bookmarking sites like Digg, reddit, and StumbleUpon.
- Generate an xml sitemap and give to to Google through their Web Developer Tools
- Become a partner of Launch Your Project by putting a link to us on your site and helping to promote Launch Your Project.
When Will Launch Your Project Post my Project?
I keep the posts in a queue in order to keep the site in a constant state of updating. To do this, I push 3 projects a day to the site when I have projects to push. They come out at 7:00AM, 12:00PM, and 5:00PM all in MST, because I am in Denver.
How do I get my project featured on the homepage?
The first and easiest way, is to write about your project and submit it to me. This will get your project on the homepage until another project is added to Launch Your Project. Every once in a while I will run a contest either on the site or on Twitter to feature someone’s project on the homepage for free.
I am also working on a way to make it so that anyone can get their project featured on the homepage of the site. Hopefully, this feature will be done soon!
