14th Annual Susan G. Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure(R)

The 14th Annual Susan G. Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure® will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 in historic downtown Las Vegas. This event, held yearly on the first Saturday in May, is a true community event, bringing over 18,000 registered participants in 2008. With an estimated crowd size of 25,000, the spirit of breast cancer survivorship and co-survivorship was evident everywhere you turned. Every thirteen minutes, a woman in the United States is diagnosed with breast cancer. Every thirteen minutes, a woman in the United States dies of breast cancer. Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been committed to changing these two statistics for over twenty-five years. Locally, the Southern Nevada Affiliate has been working for the past thirteen years to raise funds as well as spread awareness and education throughout our community by collaborating with programs which provide screening, treatment and support to those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

We welcome you to join us this year as we celebrate survivors, remember those we have lost too soon, and truly take a step towards a world without breast cancer.
