SentLetters.com - Historical Letters Posted and Shared
So far Sent Letters has over 70 individual letters posted to the site. In the time it took to do this, they have had two separate families contact them saying, “Hey those are my family member’s letters!”. To this date Sent Letters has helped return two full sets of letter to their rightful family.
They tell us that the most recent set of letters to be returned to a family came from Rochester, NY. As it turns out, the person who all the letters were written to, Ella Drexler, is still alive in Rochester. Sent Letters has since talked to Ella on the phone, returned the letters to Ella’s niece, and requested a letter from Ella for the site.
Some people call what Sent Letters uses for the site, paper ephemera, Sent Letters thinks of it as a passion to see what people were talking about as a way to see into the past.
There have been some very interesting things posted to Sent Letters so far including: The order of the eastern star induction ceremony, letters about death, letters about love, hate, and friends.
Sent Letters is accepting letters scanned and sent in by readers, as well as donations of letters to be posted on the site. So, if you have something you would like to see posted please send it to them.
